Surabaya, September 7, 2022 - PT Avia Avian Tbk. (“AVIA”) has just held an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) today. The main agenda of the meeting was the appointment of Angelica Tanisia Jozar to join the Company's Board of Directors and hold the position of Director of Research, Development, and Innovation (“RDI”). Since first joining in 2018, Angelica has played a crucial role in the development and innovation of various new products that strengthen AVIA's competitiveness. Angelica is the first female director to join AVIA's board of directors. Her appointment as a member of the board of directors increases the proportion of independent directors to a total of two out of five board members, complementing one independent commissioner out of a total of two commissioners. In addition, this appointment also increases the proportion of female leadership in AVIA's top management. This demonstrates AVIA's commitment to improving good corporate governance and promoting gender equality.
Before joining AVIA, Angelica served as RDI Division Trade Unit Manager at PT Nipsea Paint & Chemicals for approximately eight years (2010-2018). In addition, she also served as Head of Production at PT Tiga Arga for approximately seven years (2003-2010). Angelica received her Professional Engineer degree from Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, Indonesia, in 2021 and her Bachelor of Engineering degree from Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung, Indonesia, in 2003.
During her time at AVIA, Angelica and the RDI team have introduced various new product innovations that have strengthened AVIA's market position, in addition to developing several patented products, one of which is Avitex One Coat, a wall and ceiling paint with the first 1-coat technology in Indonesia. Since 2018, various new product innovations have been launched in the categories of wall paint, waterproof coating paint, wood care paint, and other products. In 2022, several new product innovations were launched in the wood care paint category. As for the waterproof coating paint segment, the new product innovation launched is No Drop Anti Panas, which has the advantage of lowering room temperature by up to 7⁰C, making it the first product in its class with this advantage. Furthermore, for the wall paint segment, the new product launched is Avitex Anti Viruz, which is the first wall paint with an anti-Corona virus feature launched for the mid-range segment.
New product innovation is crucial to enhance AVIA's competitive advantage, especially amidst intense competition and challenging market conditions. Product innovation, supported by distribution channel development, and sustainable marketing strategies are key enablers in gaining a larger market share. Continuous product development and innovation are the Company's focus to expand its product portfolio available in the market. The development of these new products is also naturally based on customer needs and existing market conditions. Furthermore, several of the Company's products have also obtained Green Label Singapore certification, which is a certification given to products with low Volatile Organic Compound (“VOC”) content, free from heavy metals, and using bio-based raw materials or other alternative raw materials. As of the first half of 2022, a total of 17 of the Company's products have received Green Label Singapore certification.
