Medan, October 31, 2024 – Motorized pedicabs (Bentor) are one of Medan City's cultural heritage, present since 60 years ago. However, with the times, their numbers are increasingly eroded due to losing competition with modern public transportation such as city buses and taxis. For this reason, Avian Brands, a leading paint manufacturer in Indonesia, invites Bentor riders to repaint their vehicles and make Bentors look new again under the theme “Bentor Berseri” (Shining Bentor).
Through the latest innovative product Avian Cling Synthetic, 50 units of Bentor participated in a Bentor repainting creation competition, a carnival, and received free pedicab canopy assistance. Avian Brands Marketing Manager, Regina Sukoco, stated that motorized pedicabs, as one of Medan city's modes of transportation, have contributed much color, especially in the tourism sector. "Therefore, we want to give a touch and attention to the motorized pedicabs in Medan City by providing appreciation and recognition for what they have given to this city we love," she told reporters during the event. "We invite the pedicab drivers to pay more attention to the comfort and tranquility of pedicab passengers, thus providing a positive influence on other pedicab drivers," she added.
50 motorized pedicabs participated in a repainting creation competition and a carnival touring Medan City, where Avian Brands provided Avian Cling Synthetic products and painting equipment for free. On the same occasion, the branch head of Avian Brands in the Medan area, Eddy Hartono, added, “In developed cities, distinctive and unique transportation must always be preserved. Like Thailand with its tuk-tuks, for example. Well, Avian Brands wants Medan's Bentor to remain in existence by maintaining and decorating it to be more attractive," he explained.
After the competition, the 50 motorized pedicabs held a carnival touring Medan City. The route started from Tugu Guru Patimpus, Jalan Kapten Maulana Lubis, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Kejaksaan, Jalan S Parman, and finally stopped back at Tugu Guru Patimpus. The motorized pedicab carnival, painted using colorful Avian Cling Synthetic, attracted the attention of the public and vehicle drivers on every street it passed. After the carnival, a relief aid handover and entertainment event for participants and guests were held.
Through this series of events, Avian Brands aims to build awareness that the preservation and comfort of Medan city's public transportation continue to be addressed through the repainting of motorized pedicabs. Through the theme “Bentor Berseri” (Shining Bentor), it is hoped to become a new spirit for Avian Brands in presenting quality products to the community.
