JAKARTA, May 19, 2023 – Annually, Indonesian communities whose livelihoods are based on fishing routinely hold sea alms ceremonies, known in some regions as Petik Laut. This activity is an expression of gratitude from fishermen to nature for providing fish catches throughout the year. One of the series of Petik Laut events is the repainting of fishing boats.
In 2023, Avian Brands once again supported the Petik Laut activity as a form of social responsibility under the theme "Colorful Fishing Boats". To date, 3 activities have been held on the coastal areas of Bekasi Regency (West Java), Bima (West Nusa Tenggara), and Sukabumi (West Java).
Through one of Avian Brands' flagship products, Avian Wood and Iron Paint, with its vibrant colors, has given a new look to boats, docks, and other public facilities, making them #NewAgain. A total of 3,830 kg of wood and iron paint has been distributed to color more than 500 fishing boats.
Until the end of 2023, Avian Brands periodically provides full support in the form of paint assistance to color fishing boats. Avian Brands Peduli (Avian Brands Cares) targets to participate in 12 Petik Laut events and support more than 1,000 fishing boats to be #NewAgain. With the ongoing CSR activities, we hope Avian Brands Peduli can continue to contribute and provide full support for the preservation of culture and traditions, especially Petik Laut in Indonesia, and also bring positive impacts to fishing communities, the environment, and all Indonesian society. Furthermore, Petik Laut activities will soon be held in Batulicin (South Kalimantan), Pamekasan (East Java), and Jember (East Java).
