Sidoarjo, March 24, 2025 – In an effort to support emission reduction programs and address global warming issues, Avian Brands has once again implemented a conservation program by planting 5,000 trees on the slopes of Mount Arjuno, Pasuruan. This activity was carried out by involving local farmers and the surrounding community as a form of collaboration in preserving the environment and raising awareness of the importance of greening. The types of trees planted in this activity include Rain Tree, Kurmis, Banyan, and Avocado. These trees were chosen for their great potential in absorbing carbon and contributing to improving environmental quality. From this planting program, the estimated carbon absorption potential is 3,252 tons of CO2 equivalent, making this area a natural carbon sink that contributes to reducing greenhouse gas concentrations.
The planting of these 5,000 trees was carried out on an area of 5.5 hectares and successfully completed within 10 days. This program is its third year of implementation, bringing the total number of trees planted by Avian Brands to 15,000 as part of its environmental rehabilitation efforts and responsibility for generated emissions. As part of this series of activities, Avian Brands held a tree planting ceremony on February 8, 2025. The event was attended by company representatives, local government officials, and the local community as a form of shared commitment to environmental preservation. This ceremony also served as an important moment to raise awareness of the importance of real action in climate change mitigation.
The continuation of this program demonstrates Avian Brands' long-term commitment to supporting a greener and healthier environment. Through this program, the company not only plants trees but also actively monitors their growth and success, ensuring that this initiative has a real impact on the surrounding ecosystem. In addition to its environmental impact, this program also provides social and economic benefits to the local community. By involving local farmers in the tree planting and maintenance process, the program generates increased income and enhances community skills in conservation and greening.
Forest and land conservation around Mount Arjuno also plays a vital role in maintaining groundwater balance and reducing the risk of natural disasters such as floods and landslides. Better vegetation will increase water absorption, thereby supporting the availability of water resources for the community and surrounding ecosystems. In addition to contributing to carbon sequestration, this program also positively impacts the improvement of aquatic vegetation, which is important for maintaining ecosystem balance. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly targets number 13 (Climate Action), number 15 (Life on Land), and number 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). By supporting these goals, Avian Brands is committed to continuing to play an active role in reducing the impact of climate change and improving the well-being of the surrounding community.
