On December 27, 2022, Avian Brands Peduli had the opportunity to participate in the lively 3rd Decorated Fishing Boat Festival in Sungsang Village, North Palembang, by providing paint assistance. Avian Brands provided assistance in the form of wood and iron paint for the rejuvenation of 50 fishing boats in Sungsang Village.
“Representing the Banyu Asin Regency Government, I express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the participation and concern in this 3rd Decorated Fishing Boat Festival in Sungsang in 2022,” said Banyu Asin Deputy Regent Slamet Somosentono.
Appreciation was also conveyed by the Head of Sungsang Village, Romi Adi Candra. “Today's event is very lively. Here we have MSMEs, a decorated boat competition, and dance entertainment, all enjoyed by the community. We thank Avian Brands for supporting the execution of this event,” said Romi.
Sungsang Village is a tourist village, one of 17 villages in Banyu Asin II District. With a flat topography and mostly river waters, the main livelihood of its residents is fishing. One of the routine activities in Sungsang Village is the Decorated Fishing Boat Festival.
Directly bordering Bangka Island, Sungsang Village is a strategic tourist destination with marine tourism as its main attraction. Therefore, the Decorated Fishing Boat Festival is expected to help increase the tourism potential of Sungsang Village.
Mukhtar, Head of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office of Banyu Asin, expressed his support for this community-organized event. “Our hope is that with this activity, in addition to increasing the number of visits to Sungsang Village, the community can also experience an improvement in their economy,” he stated.
This is not the first time Avian Brands Peduli has provided assistance to fishing communities. Avian Brands Peduli also painted fishing boats at Kolo Breakwater Pier, Bima, Paljaya, Segara Village, Bekasi, and Batu Kalang Beach in Nagari Ampang Pulai, Padang. Hopefully, Avian Brands Peduli can continue to contribute positively to the progress of Indonesian society, including fishing communities.
